Help to save the environment by going green this Halloween. You can start by making sure that your little ghouls and boys carry reusable bags or other containers as they go door to door trick or treating. A pillowcase or a canvas shopping bag will make a great alternative to plastic bags or plastic jack-o-lanterns.ith your kids to trick-or-treat, instead of driving to other neighborhoods. If you live in

Did you know that Americans use greater than 380 million plastic bags, and greater than ten million paper bags annually? Many of these plastic bags wind up as litter that subsequently kills thousands of marine mammals (like seals, whales, and dolphins) each year.

This year, instead of purchasing Halloween costumes that will be worn once and discarded, try making your own from items you have around the house. You may be able to find some great supplies for making your own Halloween costumes by shopping at thrift stores or yard sales. You may also consider asking your kids if they want to try 'costume trading' with their friends.

Designing your own Halloween costumes, and using existing resources is a great, and eco-friendly way to get your kids to exercise their imaginations. Taking this costume route will leave you with very little waste when Halloween is over.

To add pinache to your green Halloween, offer eco-friendly treats to your guests. Try giving organic chocolates or organic lollipops. You should be able to find organic goodies that will satisfy your sweet tooth AND preserve your health at your local health food store, or by shopping online. You may also want to consider giving something besides candy. Try giving your trick-or-treaters a pack of crayons, color pencils, or some other useful surprise. You will be able to find goodies like these at any dime or dollar store.

Another great way to go green this Halloween is to consider walking w a rural area, drive to a larger neighborhood and then park and walk, instead of driving door to door. If you cannot avoid driving, be sure to carpool.

If you're hosting a Halloween party, try throwing a green party that incorporates pumpkin carving and apple bobbing. Use locally grown, organic, and pesticide free foods that are appropriate to the season. You should be able to find organic produce at your favorite grocery store or local farmer's market. Use washable cutlery and cloth napkins that can be washed and reused. Get creative with décor to avoid using materials that will have to be discarded.

After the holiday has passed, be sure to recycle where applicable and use your pumpkin, your apples, and any other seasonal produce for soups, pies, and other treats to avoid waste.

Going green this Halloween will be easier than you may think. Get your family and friends involved in your efforts by passing along any tips and trends you may have picked up. Caring is contagious - once your neighbors learn of your plan, they are more likely to join in the effort. Before you know it, you may find homes all over the neighborhood are having green Halloweens, all thanks to you!

Question:

I am so lost as to what to be for halloween? And I'm on a budget.?

I'm a 14 year old girl, and I am soo going trick or treating this year!
The only problem is I don't know what to be for halloween.
I was thinking a pirate, fairy, maybe a gypsy.

I was hoping for something less expensive. I have about $20-$30 to spend on my entire outfit. I don't want to buy a whole costume off a website or in some store, since I may not want to be the same thing next year.

Also, what should I carry around to collect my treats? A pillowcase seems too trashy...

Answer:

You gould be wilma fromt eh flintstones!! rly easy!! just get a white dress( a cheap one), a white chinky necklace, and maybe a wig......unless ur hair is red
good luck
