My mom is the best at popcorn balls.
Mix 2/3c karo light corn syrup, 2/3c sugar and 1/2 tsp. salt in heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil and boils 2 minutes.Gradually pour syrup over 2 quarts popped corn, stir constantly until evenly coated. Grease hands with butter, shape popcorn mixture into balls. If the popcorn mixture cools during shaping, place over low heat. Makes 6-8. Wrap in plastic wrap. Have fun.

What is a popcorn ball? If you are talking of ordinary popcorn then yes this is how. Buy some popping corn either from the market or supermarket.
Put some oil in a big pan, then add a handfull of the corrn. Close lid very tight, soon you will hear it pop, low the heat if too much to allow eveness in popping.
Transfer the corn into a bowl.
Put some butter and sugar in the pan, allow to melt a bit, then pour the popcorn back in the pot and stir until slightly carameled. Try it, it’s really nice. I do it all the time.

Here’s one kinda like popcorn balls that is really good.

    Candy Corn Pops:
    2 cups sugar
    4 tablespoons white karo syrup
1 pound butter (real butter not margarine)
    1/2 cup water
1-1.5 16 oz bags of Barrel of Fun Corn Pops (not cereal)

Melt butter , add the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil on medium heat and continue boiling until the temperature has reached the soft ball stage (about 240 degrees) Pour over the Corn Pops. Cool

This is the recipe my mom used. We gave them out to the trick-or-treaters (back when parents didn’t automatically throw out anything not factory-sealed), and they were always a big hit!

    Popcorn Balls

    1 cup sugar
    1/3 cup white corn syrup
    1/3 cup water
    1/4 cup butter
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. vanilla
    3 quarts popped corn

Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat to hard ball stage (260 degrees F. on a candy thermometer). Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour over popcorn. When cool enough to handle, form into balls with buttered hands. Cool and wrap in individual sandwich bags.

    Quick and Easy Popcorn Balls

    INGREDIENTS:
    1/4 cup corn oil
    1/2 cup popcorn
    1/2 cup dark corn syrup
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 teaspoon salt

    PREPARATION:
Heat corn oil in a 4-quart kettle over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Add popcorn. Cover, leaving cover just slightly ajar. Shake frequently over medium heat until popping stops. Meanwhile, mix together corn syrup, sugar and salt.

Add to popped corn in kettle, stirring and tossing constantly over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until sugar is dissolve and popcorn is evenly coated with mixture. Remove from heat. Gently form into balls, using buttered hands.
Makes about 1 dozen popcorn balls.

    Colored Popcorn Balls

    12 cups popped popcorn
1.5 oz flavored gelatin (any color Jello powder)
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1/2 cup light corn syrup

Put gelatin, sugar and syrup into a pot. Heat & stir to dissolve. Bring to a rolling boil. Pour over popcorn in a large bowl (you can lightly salt popcorn first if you like). Stir until all popcorn is coated. Form into balls with lightly buttered hands (I spray with Pam!). Makes about a dozen popcorn balls.

Use whatever color suits the occasion. For Halloween use orange Jello. You can put `faces’ on your popcorn balls with candy. For Christmas make a bowl full of red & green balls. For Easter use pastel colors.

    hope these help. enjoy.
